Cooking a chuck roast for eight hours and discovering that there was a soak pad stuck to the bottom?

We cooked a chuck roast overnight in a crock pot and when shredding the roast the next morning discovered there was a plastic coated soak pad attached to the bottom of the roast that we hadn't noticed when putting it in the crock pot. Ever happend to anyone before? Whats the chances of any chemicals from the pad (plastic with some kind of cloth or cotton pad enclosed in the pad) leaching into the meat during cooking for eight hours. One person will be eating the meat. Will it be just a matter of a funny taste or should we just pitch the meat for safetys sake
