It would have been nice to provide a photo of the finished garment that you are referring to, but I believe that you are attempting to create the fabric for under an armhole to attach the sleeve to - the Bebop Cardi or Urban Cardi - it seems to be the same pattern. The foundation chain is a way of creating new material -- so you will be attaching a new ball of yarn to continue with the foundation chain. Since your project requires a number of skeins / of yarn you can start with a new one of the same dye lot -- or use the other end of an existing skein is you prefer. If you have already rolled the yarn into and cannot get at the inside - then you will need to cut the yarn and continue with the project and reattach it at a later time - weaving in the ends. HTH
