When is the best time to buy a guitar? I mean, when do they have the best deals?

I want to get a guitar, was thinking maybe christmas. So, I know theyll have good deals then, but maybe there are certain times like around thanksgiving (maybe?) that also has good deals. I'm thinking guitarcenter and sam ash. Oh, and I want a strat thats around $500.
