Fixing a broken i pod touch 4 g screen?

Looked at a lot of info and u tube vids on fixing Screen . Looks like i can get a screen and digitizer for �20 online,theyre all sold without the home on though, and from what i have learnt so far online etc it is quite difficult to take the home on off the old screen and fixing it to the new one, can anybody shed any light on this? Although for the time being i am getting used to the cracks and my i pod works fine although i am sure with time it will deteriorate, has anybody succesfully replaced a screen and put the old home on on for a minimal monetary outlay?
